Gallery Plugin

Categories: Skin feature, Backoffice tool, Downloadable Plugin, Deprecated

This plugin is no longer maintained.

The Gallery Plugin was one of the first b2evolution plugins. It allows you to attach (and remove) galleries from your posts. Inside galleries are your images, which you upload (with titles and descriptions), and order within the Gallery Manager. When a user views your posts, they see the auto-generated thumbnails, and when clicked, the large image is loaded in a specially made lightbox. Enjoy.

The Gallery Plugin is both one of the best plugins I’ve used in terms of performance and service, and one of the best features of my web site. I wish I could give more than five stars.

I would like to rate this plugin because the description looks promising. However, I’m too dumb or stupid. Just can’t figure out where to download it. The main site of the author is always down, and all links here that say “download” just send me to different pages of the b2eve site and in the end I start where I began. After 1 hour running in circles and looking for the hidden treasure I give up :-(

Good night,
Chris

Hi Chris, The link in the page title takes you to the plugins topic (well home), I’ve moved the download links in the topic up higher (so they are easier to find) just below the preview image. Hope that helps, and thanks for letting me know :)

Balupton - this really is a great plugin!

Before I had installed Gallery Plugin it used to be painful adding images to my blog. Now it’s a piece of cake and the end user experience is both practical and impressive at the same time.

Thanks very much for all of your hard work, I’m looking forward to seeing some more releases from you!!!

Hi Balupton,

thanks for your hint. I’ve found it, downloaded it and tried to install it. But b2eve gives me several warnings:

Warning: mkdir(/var/www/web705/html/PM_2007/b2eve/blogs/media/gallery_plugin/) [function.mkdir]: Permission denied in /var/www/web705/html/PM_2007/b2eve/blogs/plugins/gallery_plugin/_gallery.php on line 218

Warning: mkdir(/var/www/web705/html/PM_2007/b2eve/blogs/media/gallery_plugin/images) [function.mkdir]: No such file or directory in /var/www/web705/html/PM_2007/b2eve/blogs/plugins/gallery_plugin/_gallery.php on line 222

Warning: fopen(/var/www/web705/html/PM_2007/b2eve/blogs/media/gallery_plugin/settings.txt) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/web705/html/PM_2007/b2eve/blogs/plugins/gallery_plugin/_gallery.php on line 226

Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /var/www/web705/html/PM_2007/b2eve/blogs/plugins/gallery_plugin/_gallery.php on line 235

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /var/www/web705/html/PM_2007/b2eve/blogs/plugins/gallery_plugin/_gallery.php on line 236

Maybe I made a mistake, but I can’t figure out where. I un-installed gallery, made the directories writable and even created a directory called “images". Then I re-installed gallery, but all the warnings keep coming back. Maybe you again (or anybody) have an advice for me?

Thanks & regards,
Chris

Hi Chris, Please use the forum topic (the page that contains the download links) to post problems. As I can’t really do anything about them here. I don’t have any control over the b2evo main page, just my topics in the forum. So post it there, and I will see what is going on. :)

I have gotten the plugin to work in Firefox, mac and pc, although I can not get the lightbox portion to display properly in Safari.
I did have to create the image directories manually before installing the plugin. I realized what directories I neede to make after I received the same warning as Chris

For support PLEASE use the forum topic (the place that contains the download links).

Chris’ problem (and I assume yours as well then Bradley) was due to never following all the installation steps for b2evolution: http://manual.b2evolution.net/Install_b2evolution#File_permissions

I have added an extra step into the installation section of the Gallery Plugin’s readme.txt to resolve this.

I’ve just release v1.2.5.1-beta, only change is so that on the install, it checks to see if the permissions have been set up correctly. So thankyou Chris and Bradley for reporting this.

Once installed, gallery is so easy to use, that even a baby could handle it. Yet, the results look very impressive and professional. Gallery is worth to undergo the installation process! (Only uploading images doesn’t work with IE7 in my case.)

1) You click the title of the post, so “Gallery Plugin”
2) You are then taken to it’s forum topic, where you will see the intro, and a “Moved here” link.
3) You are then taken to it’s official home, where you can find all the info and download links.

I don’t have control over step 1, so I cannot change the link so step 2 is avoided. I have requested that it is though.

This is certainly a life-saver!!! I installed it in about 2 mins and the interface adapts perfectly to the blog’s admin/post news interface. Also it’s very up-to-date considering it uses flash rather than java script or anything of that sort. The best thing about it, to finish, is that it’s final integration (display of images) is beautiful, clean, usable amd functional. Thanks for this amazing plugin!

Hello, I love this plu-in. Just one question: on my Mac (in Firefox the New/ Previous/Comments/ Larger Version do not work.
In Safari the image is displayed on a white back without any buttons, not even the ‘close’ button.

BTW, on a pc everything works perfectly in Firefox. In IE v7 it is the same as in Safari.

Is there anything I can do to make this work better?
Naby thanks in advance.
Stefan
